STOP BEING DISTRACTED!

I am covering old ground here but I think that it is worth the time.

Most of you have very good skills and habits; good “routine” to follow.  So…

I guess the problem is that you let unexpected, outside influences to get you off of your game. DON’T DO THAT!

Ok, so the mud is early, or late. Ok, the sup’t is really pissed off because the finishers told you to set up where the masons were going to erect scaffold. No matter what outside influences are trying to rain on your parade STICK WITH YOUR ROUTINE!!!

I watch operator’s reaction to these disruptive influences and wonder what can be done to diminish them. I don’t have any real answer to my own question. It all boils down to personal determination. The situational inertia can not be the determining force that guides your action. Perhaps that inner knowledge that what you do and how you go about it is the correct procedure for success is what is known as experience.

Whether you call it experience, professionalism or just plain-old-stubborn ‘I am going to do it my way’… whatever it is – keep doing it.

I see so few mistakes that are made from lack of knowledge that I would discount them to a distant second place as to why we hurt people. The main reason is,” we allow an outside force to change our routine.”

Have more faith in yourselves.

Do it according to your plan.

Know that to do it your way, the successful way is right.

Don’t let someone else’s emergency turn into your disaster.

YOU are the operator. ;~)

I agree Bob.  stay with your routine.  if I get out of mine I am messed up, forgetting things.  not good.  build your own routine and stick with it.

I hear ya Speedy. I hate it when I am asked for water while I am packing everything up.  Sometimes if I am in a big hurry I tell them that I am out of water, or the pump don't work.

pumpon, especially on those 90-100 days. The area behind the pump can get very active (sometimes heated) at the finish of a bigger pour. This is when one realizes water shortage. We had one crew that had a man dedicated to filling water buckets during the pour, when over no hassels. If one was to poll when do the accidents happen 1)setting up 2)during pour 3)after pour completed.I somehow see #3.
