what efects whould the stroke limiter suffer if hydraulic fluid had been nasty at some point of time?

I have changed fiuid, filters several times, drained the bottom out of res to make sure no water is in the system, and iam going to put on a prefilter before the the stroke limeter.

it's an 01 39x shwing we have had it just over an year and put a hell alota mud through it

HI,stroke limiters are not immune from obsticles in oil as many other parts of your pump.Do a search on the message board "filter carts" which you should find helpfull. For this question to arrise I would guess maybe your having a problem.Your pump filters return to tank and the filters often are blown apart when a oil surges to tank happens.Take a look at that thread, may help.Good luck

Rock,

The Schwing stroke limiter is prone to dirty oil in a big way.

But first thing, do all controls act the same (radio hard wire rear panal) if so move the problem will ethier be in the electronics or hydraulics.

The problem is if the cartridge was damaged from the oil, it will never work consistent again. the first thing to ask is it a electric problem or manual? remove the angle plug and use the manual adjustment if unit runs fine it may be electrical.

The only true test for this is to check the amperage output from the controller - use a meter in line or amp clamp to look at the amperage to see if it is steady and moves consistently with imput from the controller. if this amperage moves or is inconsistent with controller - look at the 1225 board.

this unit has a CPC on it, the older ones have had some issues with the driver output.

on the hyd side, it can function normally with the manual adjustment but not with the electronics - replace cartridge - be sure to check sup pressure the other adjustment on this block it should be 50 to 55 bar.

if this pressure isoff it would only affect really low pumping pressures - below the above 50 to 55 bar ( note most people test this circuit at the shop with no pumping pressure - so it is important here)

I've found it is usually the electric cartridge after or during oil contamanation.

One other thing to note, someone else posted information about filter carts - this is very good advice keep it as clean as possible. the closer to Schwings 18/16/13 you can get, the better on component life.

if you need any thing I can help with any S brand Problems

Rock,

Sorry forgot to mention a couple things.

This unit has no return filtration just straight back to the tank - it does however have filtration - one is in line to the oil cooler and is a very good 7 micron filter. The other is in line with the boom circuit, a very good 25 micron filter (if Schwing brand used).

Ive seen people install filters inline to the stroke limiter before and usually it doesn't help because the particulate isn't cleaned low enough (Schwings 18/16/13)

The other problem to keep in mind is the high pressure on this valve (200 bar) Accumulator pressure so most people use the smaller boom filter but it is only 25 micron.

I would suggest clean oil there can be issues with pumps that will make you think stroke limiter so have fun.

hey rock don't forget to change the loop oil from the diff. cylnders must be done manually we had problems with our 39. the diff.oil does not dump back into the tank like the older pumps do. there is a 1/4 turn valve on the right side of the brain turn the valve and put pump in pump fwd.

also the driver side cylnder must be going fwd. when the cylnder gets to bottom of barrel the pump will not shift it will pressure up leave in the pos. for aprox. 1-1/2 min. that allows new oil to replace old oil for diff. cylnder. per schwing the oil should be changed ever other day let us know what the outcome is.
