Swing Valve or S tube

Good Morning

Could anyone tell me the differnce between a small swing valve pump and a S tube pump. We are looking for a small pump with attached mixer that will not have the surges that our present ball valve machine provides.

Either design will be better than your B&S as, far as, surge is concerned. You can dial the stroke down to eliminate it, pretty much and, if you add a surge dampner it will help as well.

Invest a few extra dollars and spring for a Rock Valve you won\'t regret it.

Not all BALLS are created equally speedy. Olin is the only one I have seen without a kick because of the built in surge chamber.

I thought ball valves were the smoothest thing going? Just not able to pump regular concrete.  We have one that barely gets used, but I do recall the only place it surged was near the pump itself. The concrete always came out the end at a steady flow.

The pump is a Putzmeister P13 we use for slabjacking, and spray application of repair mortars. Even at the slowest settings for rpm\'s, it can be a problem with surges in both applications. We formerly had a Moyno type pump but found maintenance costs were high with problems during jobs.

Swing tubes are not the same as a rock valve!!! Stand behind a rock valve holding a 2\'\' shotcrete nozzle shooting 3\'\' slump and you will feel that its not.. Swing tubes are much smoother than a rock valve. A stand tube will take away a good bit of surge form a line pump and are not to costly.. I would go swing tube for sure. Ball valves can only do pea gravel a swing tubes will do big rock also. If you want to talk to a friend of mine who has a both swing tube and rock valve give me a pm and i will get you a cell #. good luck.
