I read another post the other day which led me to wonder if anyone ever ran highway deisel to the job, then when they got there switched it to off road diesel to pump with then before they left switch it back. is that possible??

John,I see alot of argument with that from DOT.Remember you are always guilty first, those guys just accuse you of cheating them out of $$.If it was a scene like the old Thompsen you would be fine, but not the case.My last employer had job tags which included milage to and from jobs, also pump hours before/after each job.there was a calculation they used,it's kinda like figuring IFTA road tax for each state traveled.Look at the time, trouble, cost to do that.Least not forget the day you forgot to switch valve and get busted,oh joy.

That is not the case in Kentucky we run off road fuel all the time but our pumps are not taged they are construction vehicales so we just half to keep track of the miles on the wheel hub and pay the taxes on the fuel that we burn driving down the road but the laws must be differen't in every state

I'm In Kansas, and i've been told by the one of the head DOT officers that my line pump does not need tags, and he said if i don't need tags, he doesn't see why i would need to run tax fuel.

this is a good idea but won't work. the dye in the fuel is made to stay in the tank and lines for months so when they dip your tank you will get caught. the true way to do it is with GPS but as o now the gov. won't except anything yet. just pray they don't dip your tank. this is why two tanks won't work casue the return line would send dye fuel to the on road tank when you switch. we have been in pumping for 39 years and i can only remember being checked twice.
