Okay we just had another operator quit us to move to Texas.  Okay what the heck are they paying and offering down there? I know no state taxes and that's big like 50 to 90 a week but come on?

no sales tax, but everything costs more because of that. When i lived in Houston, it was like 8% Sales tax

Are you sure they only move because of the job? Or do they just like texas or something like that.. Maybe they have family there etc etc??

They told our operations Manager it was a due to making more money per hr and more take home pay due to state Taxes. Also housing is cheaper for them.

Depends which company you work for. In Houston it varies. $23-27. Hope that helps.

From what i heard pay is similer to colorado, but cheaper housing/living cost and no snow days. I would like austin:) hit the lake on the weekend year round.Laughing plus there must be good oppurtunity for experianced operators.

if they said more per hour, where in Texas are they moving? we are one of the lowest paid states per Hr in our field, however, the oil boom here has us working around the clock year round! the cost of living is cheaper then west or north, however not as cheap as in the south and from the jobs south of here Ive called on, they are paying much, much more per hour, however we are currently working triple the hours!

BTW we are always looking for more operators and have more work then we know what to do with lol, plus Corpus Christi is the coast line of Texas an that means year round fishing...woohoo ;)

Well Angie our guy left us for more money and more hrs. So he must be getting paid near the 27 to 30 per mark. What's the rate for a big boom op in your area..  He went to Dallas area

angie 01-16-2013

our rates are 16/24 depending on experience and boom size, I've heard Dallas, Huston, Austin area's do pay alot more but the area although still full of work, is not inundated by industrial companies like it is here in south Texas. we are in the largest oil boom in a hundred years, they project atleast 10 more years of building, drilling exc... I've been all over the country but this last year here, well let's just say Ive never seen anything like this, Texas has no idea the rest of the country is in a recession.
