The big announcement is.... NBIS is here. You can go to NBIS's web page to see what they are all about but I want to tell you that this is the first company that I personally or ConcretePumping.com has ever endorsed. I can not stress to you enough how important it is for you to call these guys.

I would only endorse a company after I have done my due diligence and I have to tell you that NBIS is one of the most impressive companies I have ever seen.

There are a number of reasons why I love this company and one of the biggest is that they bring their considerable experience and success from underwriting the Crane industry to the Pumping industry.

NBIS is so needed in the concrete pumping industry.

The other thing I love so much about NBIS is that they have a Risk Management Tool kit deigned for the Concrete Pumping industry. I so impressed, wait till you see this kit.

After flying out to their Corp office in Atlanta Ga. and seeing what they can do I believe they will be able to save you money and help you to minimize your risk. That is what they do for the Crane industry and now they will be working hard to do the same thing in the Pumping industry.

We always talk about how we need to be more like the Crane industry and here come the guys who can help us do just that.

I whole heartily endorse NBIS and if you have any questions why, give me a call and I will explain it to you or better yet give NBIS a call and see for your self.

To go to NBIS web site http://www.nbis.com/ConcretePumping/Default.aspx

Todd,

It is great that you found a new insurance carrier to take over the top ad spot, yet I do not think this is what was spoken about when it came to cranes and booms.

I think it was more like professionalism of the Industry and pricing for such, comparing our Industry to theirs, why theirs works and ours don't. Maybe they will be able to save us a few bucks for the first year like the rest of them, but what does this really do to help our Industry. (SELL ADSPACE).

Dear My2Cents.

First of all this not about ad space. I asked Putz if it was ok to put NBIS up for a couple days and they said yes. Very nice of them and I give them props for it. (thanks Putz)

Look when we talk about cranes and booms we talk about many things, safety, professionalism, contracts, procedures, risk management and so on. Pricing is not the only thing talked about with booms and cranes. The crane industry does all these things better than we do.

Again this is not about me selling ad space. Anyone can buy ad space on ConcretePumping.com but this is the first company that I am willing to put my reputation on the line for. I am telling you whole heartily that if your consider yourself to be a wise business owner you need to take a look at what they have to offer.

Bill Smith of NBIS sits on the same committee and works with Rob Edwards dealing with boom pumps. I believe that not only will NBIS save you money but they will also bring things to your pump company that you are lacking and in desperate need of. NBIS is not just another Insurance Underwriter.

Please do not take my endorsement lightly. I have done my homework. I dont think you understand why am am endorsing NBIS. I work with 100s if not 1000s of pump companies all over the world in one way or another. I have around 100 companies using my Pump Magic software. I have sold 100s of used concrete pumps all over the world. I care about my customers and I truly believe that once they see what NBIS does they will thank me for telling them about NBIS.

To all of you who think this is just another insurance company trying to give you another insurance program off the shelf, you’re wrong! I have been in the concrete pump industry for 23 years doing everything from operating to wrenching. Guys, How many times have you had your insurance carrier send out a risk management guy that knows very little if anything about a concrete pump? The guy comes by your shop and asks you questions, which are mostly about cranes and pickers, and gives you safety information that is mostly about cranes and pickers.Lets face it not a lot of insurance carriers have gone into much detail about our industry . That is not the case with NBIS-they use people in the industry to help construct their program and I know this because I helped put together the Concrete Pump package. I am an active employee in the Concrete Pumping industry and I am very passionate about Concrete Pump SAFETY. I believe in the way that NBIS is going about selling their program. We all know that for years, a good portion of the lawsuits in our industry have been because of poorly written contracts. NBIS will underwrite your contracts and look over your subcontracts to make sure you are not opening yourself up to provisions that can be detrimental to your company. The package I helped put together also provides you with a detailed Employee Safety Handbook, Personnel Responsibilities Handbook that can be personalized with your company logo and the best part we have put together loads of SAFETY material tailored to the concrete pumping industry, from Concrete Pump specific Monthly “Hopper Talks” {aka} tool box talks ,to information on getting you compliant with the new Material Placement Systems Safety Standard. This is just a small portion of what is in this program. This is no sales pitch. Go to the website and see for yourself-these guys at NBIS are different. If you have any questions, email me Scott Schmied at sschmied@wowway.com.

Dear fowlmood.

What I cant endorse a product? If I endorse them of course they are going to have a banner but anyone can have a banner on this site. Fowlmood if you ever buy a pump you will thank me for telling you about NBIS.

ConcretePumping.com is my job it is a for profit web site. I am not hiding anything here. I dont know why your always in such a fowl mood.

maybe this site needs a "pre-test" to screen out all the negativity.

Good addition to the site Todd!

Concrete pumps and all the bad it can do,it's a wonder one can find insurance.I wonder just how many are insured by "Danial Boone life",when you need them, you go scouting.

This is a high stakes game, pumping that is.I will take any help I can get to be safe, risk assesment works,if one is willing.

Good for them

I'd like to say thanks for the comments so far about our company NBIS. Todd mentioned my name in his blog; I am Bill Smith and am charged with the Risk Management and Loss Control for our company along with Tim Conlon. Just a little background, I started as an equipment operator in Baltimore in the late 70's and worked around the construction industry my whole life. I have been where most of you are as an operator of cranes and other heavy equipment but concrete pumps at that time were few and far between. One thing for sure... it's a great feeling of pride to know you are a part of building this great country especially when you point that out to family and friends as you ride by one of your projects. My whole life I have protected the operator and their companies. Starting from the labor side (IUOE) to the management side (MAXIM), to the government side (OSHA) and now the insurance side (NBIS). Our company philosophy is not just paper insurance but Risk Management-based Insurance. We work to give our insured the best chance to protect their employees and their business before an incident occurs as well as after a claim is filed…especially when they did nothing wrong. Tim Conlon, my partner out of Chicago, has consulted with experts from your industry like Scott Schmied and we believe the only way to understand your business is to listen to the people that are in your business. If we can help in any way Tim can be reached at 312-795-5622 and I can be reached at 410-863-4851. Be safe, we all know the inherent dangers of construction.

I spent some time with Bill Smith at the world of concrete and a little bit of time with him in Ga. I can tell you this he is a great guy with lots of knowledge of our industry and he knows what he is talking about. You will enjoy talking with him as I did.
