I have climbed a few Placing boom towers in my time but this is crazy.

The helmet cam is a little rough to watch but it is worth it.

Watch all of it.

Getting to old now.  But remember the good old days of climbing a placing boom mast covered in hydraulic oil because of a blown line to be covered in oil by the time you get up and the first thing that happens is you drop your 19mm wrench.  Fook me back down I go, shit where did that godamn thing bounce to.  Oh there it is that electrician grabbed it and put it in his belt.  Now the fight starts gimme my wrench back!!  "Are you sure its yours"  Gimme my wrench back now!!!! A@#%^hole or I,ll drop you off the building. On and on unil you finally get it back.  Okay start climbing again get the line partially changed and your phone rings its the dispatcher,"what the hell is taking so long I've got a job for you in a hour.  The nervous tick in your face starts and doesn't stop until your home with a lovely refreshing cocktail in your hand.

No quick way down? Hell with that give me a parachute. 1768 ft is plenty for a BASE jump! I wonder if they wear one just in case of a fall? It would be better than nothing i suppose...

You should have put a disclaimer for those with weak stomachs " do not watch". I got a headache and almost got sick just from watching that... That is CRAZY

Granddad... (And others) Just don't even think about  answering your phone when you are hanging on a placing boom high in the air drenched in oil.. What can be so important??   I never get stressed like that (ANY MORE)..

  OOOOH Boy Dipstick:

I never thought I would have to defend myself over a satirical post.  Yes you're correct about answering a phone.  I was just poking some fun at myself and thought some of the other members would see the humour.  One of my mentors once told me the amount you drink at night is directly proportional to the size of equipment you run.  I never really gave that quote any thought until I was doing sales, job setup, repairs, troubleshooting and still operating a larger stick everyday that the humour of that statement hit me.  It doesn,t mean I come to work drunk or hungover but I use that quote often when I,m frustrated or trying to calm a fellow operator down.  Sorry if I offended anybody.

Ok. Get it. But you must admit.. there are actualy quite some operators that do let them selves get so stressed. Some get high bloodpressure just when the office is ringing.

Maybe not so easy for me to understand everything you guys say because english is not my own language..

That's ok granddad,I caught the drift (grin). There are in fact way to many operators that pressure out, clouding good judgement.
