I know of at least one US pump company that is "on retainer" to local fire departments.  They furnish boom pumps , on a call-out basis, to use as water towers.

Do Boom bumps setup faster than Fire Trucks ?? Just curious because it takes me a while to safely setup a pump sometimes. Just thinking that the place might be burnt down by the time its all setup ??

Wonder what effect the heat of the fire can have on the structure of the boom.. Who decides how close you can go etc..
