Employees of Roger and Sons Concrete of Lagrangeville, N.Y., came to Tiffin Wednesday evening to load two hydraulic concrete placing booms onto their trucks for delivery. The trucks are to leave for New York City this morning so the equipment can place concrete on the remaining 41 floors in Tower 4 of the World Trade Center. The booms come from Irving Equipment LLC, a Tiffin company which specializes in selling and servicing equipment for placing concrete and material handling equipment. Mark Irving, sales manager, said it is an honor to be involved with such a high profile project. "I would say this must be one of the most high profile jobs in the world," Irving said. "It's really cool. (Our equipment) is in most of the pictures, but you have to know what you're looking for." "Are we making our places in the history books for this job? No, we're just one little ant in this entire thing. But it's kind of cool for Tiffin." This is just the most recent project the company has worked on with Roger and Sons. Joe Irving, president, said the company already has purchased two truck-mounted pumps from Tiffin, which have been used to start the building's basement 100 feet below street level. "They must be satisfied with us," Joe said. The two units being shipped today are to be placed at the fourth floor of the building and raised to pour concrete on the higher floors, with the ability to reach a total height of approximately 465 feet. Before the sale was made, employees of Irving Equipment visited the construction site to get a feel for the project and decide on the right piece of equipment. In addition to sales, Irving Equipment also services units and make parts for discontinued and older machines. Wednesday, some staff members were in Southern Illinois on a service call, working with the Amy Corps of Engineers on a dam and lock system for the Ohio River. A 197-foot concrete pump is to aid in building the dam. The project is unusual since water and shipping traffic are not be diverted during construction. Irving Equipment has been in business since 2003 and is the U.S. supplier of Concord concrete pumps. In recent years, Irving has expanded its territory across the United States and eastern Canada for sales, parts and services. looks like one of those placing booms is a 5 section 32M, do they need the added versatility to for working around the tower crane? |

Good eyes man. Yes they both are CCP 32-Z (5-setion) placing booms. Short booms with 5-sections were chosen because they will be close to each other while going up the core and close to the other equipment. |
