Welcome to "TooTalls TIP Section" thankfully any "Bad",Dangerous or "Bent" tips will be pointed out by several others on this site. Take it or leave it...

While riding and training with my first mentor and master, I asked him "whats the tape on the middle or your whip for?" He replied "Its an elevation marker"... Since I have considered everything I learned from this man "scripture" and developed my routine according to his, I've been asked the same thing 100's of times. "whats the tape on the hose for?" and have explained...

"Its an elevation marker"... a wrap of tape, ribbon, or paint about 5 feet from the end of the tip hose. Positioned just above the hose-mans hard-hat so when you cant see the end of the hose, you still have some idea of its elevation. Even with a wireless remote it is not always possible to keep a constant visual on the flow, especially on big deck pours when there's 10 workers in one small area, or if your stuck on the crows nest of a placing-boom. I have put some sort of marker on every tip hose I have ever used. I quit using ductape because of people asking or thinking it was a repair or patch. Now I use something less noticable like a small paint line or even a carpenter crayon...

It's a good trick but I like the hill-billy chrome more than the paint.

I've done that on caison pipes. Never thought of using it on a tip hose. A person always overlooks the obvious. I think I'll use that. Thanks
