TK50 won't start

Hi I am looking for some advice. I had a pump last Friday with a 1999 Putz tk50 (Diesel). It was very very cold and had to tarp it over with a torpedo heater running on the pump to get it going. After I got it going we let it run at about 1500 rpm for a good 40 minutes. I mixed up my slurry, dumped it in and cycled in reverse a couple times until the engine stalled. I could not get the engine going again. There was a napa close by so I changed the fuel filter and put fuel 911 in the tank and I little in the filter when I topped that off with fuel. I have drained the water separator as well taken off the fuel line just before the fuel filter and pumped diesel through the lines. Any ideas on what can be done to get the engine going? I am an owner/operator and this is my only pump so looking to get this going asap! Thanks!

Is it a Duetz engine in there? If your engine shuts off by turning the key check your choke solinoid that could keep it from starting.

90% of the time its fuel or something shutting off the fuel such as E-stops or grate proxy switch or off switch. Make sure you pump the manual fuel pump many times to insure the fuel is through the system. Also check when you are turning it over it should be puffing white smoke or fuel vapor. This shows it is getting diesel. My guess is it isn't.

Thanks guys. I got it going finally... Ya it wasn't getting fuel for sure. I manually pumped plenty of fuel through the line, put it back on,  hooked the battery up to my truck and cranked it while I bled each cylinder (4). Wasn't getting any exhaust whatsoever so gave it a few shots of starting fluid, got it going then rebled the injectors. I let it run for an hour and seems to be ok. I'm thinking I should have changed my fuel filter sooner than this incident and drained off the water from the water separarator more regularly, as well as regularly added diesel conditioner to the tank. Also, this happened on a day that it was zero degrees (F) and a two hour drive at 4am. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

I start mine at the shop and leave it running. Deutz diesel motors don't like the cold. Someone told me "you can walk by with an ice cream cone and they won't start"..

starting the trailer and towing it while running you can avoid no starts on jobs. Just make sure you got enough fuel once you get on the job! Thats why I love our little city pump. Its a ford F550 with a trailer mounted on the rear of the frame. Just flip the PTO on when you get on the job :)

we had a similar issue on our TK45, turned out to be in the fuel filter... the FRAM filter was bleeding back into the fuel system when the machine would sit, thus creating air in the system... simply changed out the filter to a genuine DUETZ part and it's been fine ever since.

It was very cold that day and the drive may have been the killer. Is that Dee's old trailer? Good luck and welcome to the Biz...
