I have a friend and he runs a firm of roadcarriers and he have 14 trailertrucks and 4 mixertrucks. He is a real Volvo-freak and for a while ago when it was time to exchange a couple of trailertrucks, he wanted to exchange them to Volvo VN 880. But the Volvo VN-series is not legal to drive on Swedish roads because they have no brakes on the frontaxels (!?) said the Volvo-dealer. The Volvo VN-series is only built for the USA and Canada-market where they don´t use brakes on the front axel because the USA/Canada-truckdrivers believe that they slide off the road when it´s snowing, if there are brakes on the frontaxel. It sounds like a joke to me - you maybe laugh at me, but i have to ask. So you guys from USA and Canada, is it realy true that you don´t have any brakes on your frontaxel?

every axle has to have brakes, even tag or pusher axles; I cant imagine going down the road with a 110,000lbs truck and only having brakes on the rear axle;

we do have brakes on the fronts, just that most of the trucks here dont have spring brakes on the fronts

The spring brake is the park brake, so if there is loss of air in the system the spring will apply the brakes or if you pull the parking brake (maxi)

Ok pumpro and Wasa - now i understand. It could be that the Volvodealer mean, and it´s probably why the truck not is allowed on the Swedish roads. In Sweden must every wheel be activate by a spring if the system run out of air.
