guy in first pic appears to only have front passenger side outrigger out on what looks to be a 45 or 47 meter , rear as you can see is still in the stowed position , this is absolutely insane , and the other one well either he forgot he was shortrigged or is just plain stupid , almost every pump we see turned over is shortrigged in some manner , really need to put some failsafes in place to prevent these accidents , we are all human and make mistakes , its the manufacturers, managers , owners , supervisors and safety coordinators to take steps to try and keep some of these from happening , there will always be accidents , but what I'm seeing most all of these are preventable. |

PLEASE not any more safetys.. That is getting so much out of hand that it actualy makes the job more dangerous. You'll be so much distracted by all the switches and buttons you have to push that it takes your focus away from whats realy happening. Problem is that its to easy to come on a pump. There should be real training and real diplomas like crane drivers get and not just the 2 weeks practice with another operator that maybe doesn't even know what he's doing because thats the way its going here at the moment..

Can't see any reason why the outriggers were not out in the 2nd picture. Guess putting front one on the footing to hard. |

Both of these could've been prevented had a qualified person done a pre boom lift walk around of the set up , no way in either circumstance would I have approved the boom coming out of cradle. A couple of the larger contractors we work for they have to sign off on if the set up is safe before we can raise the boom. If you dont feel safe DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!! |

If the pump industry doesn't certify itself, the government will come in and make it crazy stupid. Don't be bullied by bosses that make you setup unsafely. When something bad happens I can guarantee you that they won't be standing next to you saying I was yelling at him to set up that way. |
