For those running concrete pumps in the uk you need to read this...

hgv driving licence will become compulsary, the vehicle licence will be on the same tariff as a hgv and the 'red' will be gone. sure sign there's nothing in the coffers

you need hgv now if you havent got one you better get one before you get pulled over,

Surely there are not just going to stop all pump companies in their tracks without any notification to each individual they know exactly which lorries run as special vehicles because they have got it on file with the tax. I personally haven't had anything in the post and until I get told otherwise I shall keep doing what I am.

on that list ,it said there were 10 exempt vehicles, they were going to leave as they are some because they were fixed to truck just one more way of getting money out of us

you don't need a hgv at the moment to drive on the public highway. you only need one if you want to get a cpcs card.

would keep an eye on this because the closer it gets you are more likely to get pulled by vosa for a chat and a check over, and for those of us running pumps close to the weight its gonna get interesting, be they new or old.

This will open a whole can of worms drivers hours fuel, tax ect who will pay the extra costs. pumps will be to expensive for about 50% of our customers, invest in wheelbarrows now and make a killing later on!

hgv testing is a good thing we have it in ireland for about 2 years now it just means the pumps are kept  in good order and road safe better for the operator too

i understand that a new operator applying for a CPCS card has to now have an HGV to get a card. But what about the operators that have a CPCS card and dont have a HGV because they were doing the job before the CPCS card scheme came into force. Will they now have to go and get a HGV?? if so who pays for this?? the operator?? the company?? or should the goverment pay??? if the operator or company arent gona pay then an operator will be out of work. increasing more people on out of work benefits for the goverment. and its the goverment thats trying to get people back into work.

Got a card on grandfather rights when they first came out, then didnt fiil the book out so had to get asessed to get it renewed, cost about 1k but got most of it back on CITB grants.Taken the last 6 months to do, what with paperwork etc movin to and fro, but finallly got new card thru last month. Big lesson learnt- fill the book out and get it signed!!

so you have had to do your 'Not Very Qualified' as well then. i've had to do the same this year after a short lapse in paperwork. 2 of us passed it at a combined cost (hgv+nvq+pump test) £2000+ each. a right kick in the nads in these times.
