Under Roof Jobs

I run a putzmeister 31 z so I get to do all those fun jobs under the low ceilings. I have tried all sorts of different methods to try to keep splatter off my boom and my truck, mainly the boom because of its close proximity to the pour at all times. Any other 31 meter operators have any neat tricks or tips? So far pressure washer as soon as job is iver has been the best. I have another 300 yard pour at 3 am.

I run a Schwing31ht and when ever I go in side i will take clear plastic and wrap the last three sections all the way around, splatter is a fact of life when you always pump next to your truck!! Good Luck hope it helps.

I also run a 31 ht and i have lightly oiled the last two sections down with hydraulic oil before the pour.  It is a mess but the concrete came off with no problems.

Hey how do you guys like the 31 Schwings? Are they easy to get the hang of?

Personally I love the machine, when it is -12 outside I'm inside pouring.  Not to mention it's versatility, unfolding in low clearance is not an issue because of the telescoping section. The only complaint that I do have is in the spring and the fall and only this time the telescoping section squeals horrible no matter how much grease you apply to it. Do you have the same problem Waterbox?

As far as getting use to it there were some battle scares to the old girl from when I started doing indoor work, not to mention we had the push button boxes to start with and we would have "dead" sections. We now have the twist knob boxes and it makes running the machine a ton easier.

How often do you guys get to go inside like that? There are times that I am inside 3 out of 5 days and do the majority of the big slabs. Kinda funny that the little boom is pumping more yardage than the big booms! Seems that around here almost 75% of the buildings they are building before they pour the slabs

Yeah my main section extend squeaks like crazy. But after that stupid ass mack fan starts going i forget about it.

Yes i am inside alot also, but this boom makes life a lot easier inside.  But to answer your question i really like this pump alot, but i have never ran a putz 31 to compare it to?

Can you guys post some pics of your 31's. I have never seen one it action. Pics of the telescoping action would be a treat.

I may not have a telescoping main section but that 5th section sure comes in handy alot. I have had to literally stitch my boom through beams to do basement floors in a hospital expansion, and that extra bend compared to the schwing sure helped alot... Two days this week I had 250-300 yard pours and averaged close to a hundred yards an hour with it each pour. I love it, would not trade it for any other machine!

FunnyBoom I'm inside about the same as you more so in the winter it seems though. We run 3 31's and they are the busier than the others.  Like Waterbox I also have not run the putz 31 but have spoken to guys that used to one guy said it was the cats meow the other said  the schwing was better so I can't say more than that, although the putz can lay more mud down if rm can supply. I do have one question for you when you are inside and you need to pour tight to the truck what configuration do you use and are you able to pour right up to the truck and do you have a pic of it. I have seen a few of the concord 32 but the hose man was pushing the hose as much as he could and was still short.

Seed have a few pic posted on my profile. Will try to get a few more tommarow.

I will try to get a pic of it, Im sure I have one somewhere, but I can pump right up underneath my fron bumper and the hose man does not have to push the hose a bit. Its a little tight to do this and puts the boom very close to the pour and the truck but works rather well. I will work on getting some pics of some very crazy jobs I have done with my 31. I wouldnt trade it for any other truck.

How do you guys like when you pull under a nineteen foot ceiling to pump a slab then you throw a laser screed into the equation, it sometimes gets very difficult to let him move around the job when you have that big ole boom in the way. I work with one laser screed guy in particular and we have worked out a pretty good routine. But its still a pain sometimes
