Hi This is the latest and greatest so far...lol I know many of you do this and this is for the ones that dont The point to this is to stop the fin fish from swimming in your hopper and and getting into the deck pipe and or elbows or boom pipe and plugging you up and it always happens on a Friday in bone chilling cold or when you have to move 4 more times to finish and even though boom parties can still happen this is one way to help prevent it. YOU need a vibrator that can handle the real stiff mixes other wise you will be sucking air in a few strokes and we all know what can happen after that also if you can have another vibrator that you can switch out with a male / female plug that will make a swap quick and easy should you have to change it. When I took these pictures no pre cast fin fish were in that load just balls but this secondary grate has saved my butt on many occasions where I have come back to back in the next load and there are precast chunks that would have been in the hopper and potenially caused a nice plug somewhere. |

This was my first one using chain link fence it worked ok but welded rebar is the better way to go and fishing is best with your friends and some beers not in the dead of winter and busting pipe sucks anytime of year....lol |

Last thing with the welded rebar when you go to clean just lift it off which makes your clean up the same as normal I hope this helps at least one operator from a mid winter boom party........ |

nice pics and explanation 38zman , from my inspections I run into the rebar style a few times a year. Not many operators use this idea but it does work from what they have told me. Your chain link one was a nice idea but I knew it would not last, the metal is too thin . But rebar is readily availible and cheap to do this to a hopper grate. Nice tip |

Yea Boom, You can find what you need in rebar on most any site in leftover bar or waste left on site. |
