the wash out bags are a great idea until you have to get rid of them. to take them to a land fill is expensive and to pay a laborer to strip the bag off to take them to a crusher is just as bad. any comments? I wonder if lousiana needs them.

I have never tried that. Are you pumping the hopper out into the mixer then dumping the hopper ? Or pumping water threw the boom ?

Search for Waterwash here and on the video section and you'll see what it is.

Either one. Usually blow the boom out into ready mix truck and then suck sponge, suck water, etc.....and then dump hopper into Ecopan.  Works great.

A word to the wise,if you have never tried a water wash.Have someone that's more experienced show you the basics.Once you have mastered that then you will have an idea of the hoses reaction inside a mixer hopper.

I mean you have never seen the mess of the mixer, street and a real angre driver.Never, and I said never let the driver stand on ladder while doing this "safety"

Now that I have seen the video I have done this many times at the Universtiy of Michigan . We were pumping 9000 psi self congealling concrete at a 12" slump with 1/2 stone. After 33 years of running and maintaning pumps I just never heard of this method referred to as a "water wash". Still learning something new .

Hey,good for you. That 9000 must have been as hot as a popcorn fart.Just remember safety and good ol common sense. We don't want to hurt anyone.

Have any real time questions just mail me.

can an eco pan be put under the pump with a forklift and removed or do you have to move the pump and back up to one? ive never seen one used. never used a bag either.

From what I see on their page (link on the right side here), they use a crane, so I guess they could slip it under your hopper without moving the pump.
We made our own pan with the same mounts as a loader bucket, works nicely.

Step Brother

They unload the eco pan with a crane on their truck. Then a fork lift is used to slide pan under the pump or if the pan is placed somewhere else you can back over it to washout. I have to lift the back of pump up for the pan to slide under. When backing over pan I back onto my outrigger pads or dunage to get over pan.

The only time in the detroit area I have to use a bag or pan is in AnnArbor (tree hugger USA). Most of the time it is dumped on the ground and picked up by a loader or forklift when hard. Some contractors just dig a hole for you to wash in and they just bury it. Most jobs I go on don't have the large volume of water for a a water wash.

The only time I have used an Ecopan I had to jack up the rear end so they could get it under the hopper. Around here they use alot of kiddiepools or, we get to dump it on the ground. Face it after water washing and, even if you are sucking back, concrete does not permeate the ground more that a few inches. All of this washout BS is purely a money game. But since it is a game I play.
