First off, I'm a new member. Great site Todd, can't say enough good about it. Been looking at it for a while now with no excuse not to join. Thanks for the work you put into it! Does anyone use a washout hook for a line pump? I'm curious how well they work. Common sense tells me how to use it, but with all of pumping there is some secret to the shortcuts, safety, and the do's and don'ts.

The company I use (4 pumps) uses them. The only thing I have paid attention to is they tie it down, cable come along. They also use eco bag under the hopper to wash into. This guy/operators leaves a very clean area when done.

very nice to use also very dangerous no matter how experienced you are always take a min and think when you hook up and make sure you did everything and use a chain and binder and keep your hand on the remote unless you wanna have a very angry driver for covering his truck be safe pump on what kind of pump do you have

The muffler shop took a 2.5" by 8' piece of pipe and made the "candy cane" for me. They even welded the HD fitting on for me. I can stand on the ground and hook the funnel on the truck. When there is no place to clean out I let the mixer wash his chute into me and then I wash out into him. I can clean completely up without making a mess. I have a Olin ball valve pump. You do have to pay full attention as to what's going on and what will go on.

Sounds like a nice set up.My only concern would be the non ball valve pumps and there mixes. The 3/8 - 3/4 mixes may prove stonger than the exhaust pipe (burst pressure). For your application, sounds like it would fly.

schwing trailer pump, short rock. we do this all the time with just a 2 1/2" 20 footer, but its too dangerous and you cant always trust the guy on the truck holding the hose.

I use a hook with my schwing line pump. I got mine from schwing. It is about 8' long and goes from 4" at the top down to 3" where you hook up. from there, a samll reducer is used to get to my 2.5" or even 2" I post some pics. I have cleaned out 200' of system with this hook, and clean around 100' on a regular basis. Be sure to strap it down, I use the 10K 2" ratchet strap... kinda like the ones truckers use. Stand back while pumping back and for sure do not pump if that driver is standing up there. Make him come down... man it only takes a minute or two, then let them back up to wash. watch your pressure, and keep your finger on the stop button. Good luck.
