http://www.hydraulicspneumatics.com/200/TechZone/HydraulicFilter/Article/True/6432/TechZone-HydraulicFilter Thanks Dingo you got me digging into this. Never to old to learn. This is a great read, I Have always known that water in the Hyd oil is bad but never knew the extent. With this info diagnosing hydraulic issues will become easier. Over the years I have seen and heard of strange and variable issues not explained by common ideas broken springs, or worn out parts. Cavitation I cant explain, and a long list of other nuisance problems with pump systems. I particularly liked the portion towards the end of the article that discussed to oil/water and chemical combination. Also the amount of contamination If the oil is cloudy it is way bad, parts are wearing out before you see the water in the oil. This is the result of the post about water in the oil it is a BAD thing and will cost an owner in lots of ways. I strongly encourage the read. |

So, does it hurt to run your water in the box below the rams? If not then by all means keep it down. Lately i've been keeping mine well below the ram and my hydro oil seems clearer. |
