Water in the water box makes sense but the mechanic I bought my pump from says hydraulic fluid is a better choice any thoughts

what happens when your mud cups start to wear out and you leak hydraulic oil into the concrete. OR what happens when you contaminate the waterbox with cream from the concrete, then where do you dispose of the oil?

Like I said.. Some pumps have this system where oil get sprayed in to the water box. So I guess its ok to just ad a bit of oil to the waterbox.. But filling it all up with just oil sounds crazy to me. Surprised

It is a "FLUSHING" WATER BOX for cooling the chrome pumping rods which cools the oil in the system... Over long pours this should be emptied and refilled with clean cold water. Central lubrication is a whole other system.

NOT oil lubrication box....

Your mechanic is wrong thinking in this application.

I am pretty sure most putzmeisters have it set up where it drips a little hyro in water box every so often.

If the P50 is a Transcrete Trojan, it should be running hydraulic oil in the flush box. Transcrete pumps have poly' piston cups running on hard chrome liners. NEVER water unless as a temp' measure until oil can be sourced.

On a Putz, the water box stands for 30% of the cooling of the hydraulics.

In 24 hours of pumping it can leak upto 1 litres of oil into the water box.
