I have experianced this before, It can be done on a Putz only by a qualified Teck.

Most of the time they are seaking a boom inspection though, it is not normal in the pump industry mostly a crane "thing"

I agree it is best left up to the MFG, due to special equipment, training and $$$. We do it quite a bit on cranes but it is much easier find 1 certified weight for a crane vs. several pcs to have on each boom section of a pump.
