What do y'all do to prevent small line plugs with big pumps?

When a concrete pump is designed it is equipped with a hopper grate to pass the maximum size material that can be pumped with that machine. When you wish to pump with small system that will require further screening to safely pass through [say 2” hose] who is responsible for that screening?

Lets say that you are going to pump material on a job and you hook up 2” hose to your TK-40.

Do you:

Hope that there is no oversize or trash material

Put a smaller screen size on your hopper

Don’t care, whatever happens, happens

Show up with your P-88 which has a smaller screen

What do you do, if anything, to prevent plugs and problems

We sometimes take a piece of wire mesh and lay it on top of the grate. This makes it pretty difficult for anything to pass by that might be to large for the size hose you are using. I try to tie wire it down so it can't possibly be pulled into the hopper.

We checked with the local redi mix company and came up with a small stone sieve, cut it to fit the hopper, works very nice, or check with a local metal supply house and check the different stretched steel sizes

I carry 2 extra screens made of expanded metal.  One is about an inch and a quarter gap and the other is three quarter inch.  They work well but slump is a big issue with the tighter screens.

dont really think much about it,i would rather plug in the reducer it will catch most of the plugs as far as the hose when setting up hose put all the new ones togher otherwise it might plug in the middle somewere and i dont want to half find it

yea my tk 40 lost that original rack and made one with eighth inch bar stock on 1.5 inch centers so the clearance is 1 5/16 the rack sits on top the existing flanges and is removed for final wash out. i run 2.5 inch most of the time.

We take 10mm rebar tack weld bars together across the main crate.

We then bend the two pieces that run parellel with the crate which hook around the lift handles.

Easy to remove or put on depending what your pumping.

We have a 2" line running of our booms to pour cynder block works great to keep the fins out bigger than 2".

Granite Pumping

The removeable grill is slick. Where do you store it between uses? Does it stay on the pump? Do you have a drawing for the other members?

Sounds very professional, Thanks ;~)

Do the mfg's have smaller mesh size grills for 3/8" material?
