What is compensation pipe ?

I found it in http://www.concretepump.com.au/Pipes_Hoses/2480_2_GB_BP.pdf

Why is it alternating length ?

Thank you for advice.

Every pump got 1 piece of pipe which is measured while building the whole delivery line.

It´s needed because the tolarances of every pipe add up; normally this compensation pipe varys within 50mm in one Pumptype.

AKA 'make-up pipe'.  It's what's left over after you've stuffed all the 3-meter pipe into a boom section you can fit.
