depends on how far i have to move and if folding up outriggers all the way.if job site is a obstacle course suck ball all the way back ,open 90 and remove before setting back up,once setup is complete pump a little in bucket close 90 and pump on.

all the way back in texas. the hot air and soft ground make for time consuming re-set's.

I haven't seen a need to suck it all the pay back yet here in jersey I learned from my mistake don't get the sponge to wet.I run a 32-38m putz i can break down and set back up in about 15-25min.

Always always suck one back the whole way. God forbid you break a U-Joint or get stuck in the move. And deffinatly open it up and take the sponge out. Ive known people to just pump it out, i did that too being lazy until the day it almost got stuck, whipped the hose and shot 100'. No one was near it but yes 100 feet. Wet sponge or dry shouldnt have mattered i dont get that one.

I always check out where the next setup is first to make sure everything is out of the way, I leave 3/4 a hopper full if the mud is still good then kink the 4" towards the truck tie it with wire and put a rag and a 4" gasket over the end of the hose so that nothing drips out then fold it up and move, and once I set back up i recirculate for a minute or two depending if there is a truck there or not

After I say "what do you mean I have to move the pump."I just suck it back and cap it if I am using a double ended hose tied into system. out of the boom with a single end hose I suck a ball back . Then I fold up completely and move . I have at times left the outriggers out when moving on very hard and level ground with a spotter. But the boom is always folded up. I always check to see if my new stop is clear of debris , equipment etc., . My record is moving a 36m schwing 12 times in one day . happened at the ford rouge plant in dearborn mi. pumping for walbridge. be safe.

If its a short move I'll take off hose and put a ball and blow out cap on and fold up and pull in outriggers.  If anything goes wrong I can blow the boom out.

i got one, never sucked a sponge, why? thats the way i  was trained. i first and foremost check the reset up location, make sure theres mudd left in the truck (mixer) then pump all the way down, give my hopper a good rinsing, reverse as much as i can then fold up and move, i've had times when the reset up took a little too long and the wet mudd in my hopper help reprime, notto mention the pipes are mostly empty, may sound complicated but thats the way i was trained ;)

I would never fold up with mud in my pipes, again. Had to move once, wound up being 1/4 mile through the woods. The mud in the pipes all got viberated down to a hard pack. Had one hell of a boom party! I just suck it all back then move.

only takes a min to suck a ball, 3 min to open it take it out, wipe it off and close it back up, boom partys take how long? Maybe im just gunshy, but ive still never used air. Diff strokes for diff folks. Im to lazy for shortcuts going wrong

Terry, better beat on those scaper blades so you keep running clean machine.  lol

Its not much fun climbing out on your extended boom and taking off the second set of elbows and trying to get the mud to blow through. Much easier sucking back.

I pump my hopper down, reverse it till it bubbles, then fold and move. oh yeah before moving might throw a little water on top of mud to keep it alive

DEPENDING ON HOW FAR, RECIRCULATE CLOSE THE AIR CUFF, OR FOLD UP THE HOSE, FOLD UP AND MOVE DEPENDING ON GROUND CONDITIONS AND A SPOTTER SOMETIMES ILL MOVE WITH THE O.R OUT.

I like cretes idea ,line pumping get a bunch of pullers and go, with the boom which I had to do once sucked all back to the hopper  put in water a mix while I fold everything up, take her out of pump gear move to new site  put in pump gear add water to hopper then reset riggers then boom start pumping till it pops out.

on our Putzmeisters with the air-cuff setup factory installed, the air-cuff will release as soon as the pump is taken out of PTO, or the engine is turned off... don't learn the hard way like I did, fold and rope it...

It really depends on how far I am moving. If it is on the site then I just fold or, cap the tip hose and move. If I have to leave the site and go any distance over 1/2 mile then it is suck it back and, clean it out. This is especially true if I will not have the mud following me. Now I have run wet but, only if my last truck was going to be following me and, the mud was not hot.

I had one customer and the concrete company get mad because my last truck was going back to the plant to get batched on top which would have required me to hold the mud for nearly another hour, after it took nearly an hour to get rid of what I did. But as I look at it how angry would they have become if I was plugged with hot mud and, not able to do the job. My boss backed me up on my decision.
