Just wondering what are the ways people are removing build up of hardened concrete, hammer? air chisel? chipping hammer? scrapper, power hose (jet), be nice to hear any new ideas of keeping your pumps clean and respectable |

If short on time or water,,, I clean pump first, an do it very well. Then hopper with less time an water, Then the grate might not get much of anything an crete builds up on it. I spray with Back-set an let mixer trucks clean it off. It might take 5 times or jobs to get most of it clean again. Then when I have time at the shop I will use A 4000 psi pressure washer for the rest of it, If I have nothing else to do to the truck. Back-set will not eat any rubber seals or gaskets, Or at least thats what says on the tote that it comes in. A chippin hammer aint no fun an will teach you to use your water an time wisely. I have only pumped 60 jobs so far an still have A lot to learn. Great question,,, Thanks. |

we scrub the hopper at the end of every pour too with soap, water and scrub brushes as well. no concrete build up ever ;) unless your hopper flashes that is... ; ( |

Yep...that too. Scotch Brites and Dawn make a good combo. |

High pressure every day. For the rest a hammer does it. You know you will hardly get any money back for all your washing at the end. You don't get much more for a used pump when the hopper is spotless or a bit dirty. Rest of the truck nice and clean but the hopper... I don't stress over that.. Cleaning the hopper with soap and hot water doesn't seem so bright to me. That will only make the steel very 'dry' and concrete will faster bite and hang on it. I like to spray oil on the hopper the day before so it will hang well in the steel the next day. |
