Ok You are in the Beggining of your prime , the hopper is full the pump has made 2 strokes & suddenly the concrete truck Discharge Stops all together , The electronics went out ( BAd thing About no Manual levers Like A Pump), Anyway the pump made 1 more stroke & I had to stop or Spit the Hopper @ the driver,The 2nd trk is still 20 minutes away ,

 The Question is this Would you suck a sponge back , would you just suck back the mud or would you just set & wait ?

Thats a good question.I have been pumping for only a 1.5 yrs and that has never happend to me.I dont know what i would do.Im going to wait for a answer with you.I hope it went ok.

if it was me, i would clean right away, no matter even if it was a 17 meter.

dump the hopper and clean out. the contractor can backcharge the mixer co. I dont take chances on a prime ever.

i guess if you had 20 min what eles are you going to do for 20 min besides eat your lunch early anyway

Water prime or slickpak?? I don't like to stop, but I've been forced to. I back up a stroke or two, wait, take off again med volume ,then go for it! BUT I listen!!! I'll know if I'm gonna have to fight it after the third stroke or so! I've had to clear the reducer once or twice(5 to 4) but no big deal! But you do whats right for YOU!! There are as many ways to prime out as there are operators,so you know what's in your comfort zone.

on your profile it says u run a 32 meter so i am going to asume thats what pump u were running. so if its a 32 1 hopper should be all u need to prime the pump anyway. u said u got 2 strokes and a full hopper. so what i would do is prime the pump. then i would have the mixer driver jump in his cab and try to get the mixer to discharge from in there. the problem is probly in the remote. 99% of the time thats what it has been on my jobs.

With 2 strokes your pumping slender is full and your hopper is also full so its enough for your boom so move your boom in your pump hopper and carry on pumping to discharge concrete in your hopper . So many times we do like that.

THE SAFEST WAY IS TO SUCK BACK AND START OVER  OR IF YOU COULD BOOM OVER HOPPER AND PRIME OUT IN YOUR HOPPER AND RECIRCULATE TILL THE NEXT TRUCK SHOWS, ANXIOUS TO HEAR YOUR RESULTS.

Munir might just have the best solution. Finish your prime back into your hopper. If you are operating a roll and fold you go two up and two down. It takes what... three strokes to get the mud to the top of your second section? (max)

Let the mud slide down three and four - back into your hopper and you are ready to rock and roll when the mud shows up.

It isn't like you will be waiting all day for a back order load; and you have hot mud in your hopper. New mud - fresh prime - next truck twenty min's away - I think Munir has a viable plan..

And if you do it his way you are not making your customer wait or making a mess right out of the gate.

Can you prime into your own hopper? Sounds scarry to me. I'd prime in the yard then swing. Or suck a sponge.

well the guys w/ the most experiance should know best, im under a year so i would've probably finished priming and left it in a frame and drained the 3rd and 4th into the hopper,if i was too low you could always reverse a couple of strokes then push a coupletill the 2nd truck got there ,but like i said im pretty new.

Well he did say he pumped 2 strokes then the concrete truck stopped and he had only enough concrete to stroke It one more time. For a 32 meter it will take more than 3 strokes to get it over the top.

The safest way I think would be to do a water wash. Use water to push the prime the rest of the way through the boom.

I would probable suck it back wet it up and wait.

As far as not having enough crete to prime out: if you HAD TO you could prime out with one up and two down, when you run out of mud...stop.

As you raise the boom the concrete will drop through the other sections.

I would not recommend it, but hey, this is a "how could you" right?

Ok Here Is how I had to Finish Priming my 05 34x ( I need to update my profile ..takes 5 full strokes to prime out , So Bob's Answer was right On ;) with the exception I did it back into the hopper & was able to wait for the second trk ..

Well, I usually blast the mud all the way up and down until I'm sure the slurry and rocks are through. Seems if I let off too soon the rocks pile up in the reducer? When its coming out the hose there's a fine line when the water is out. get in a hurry and stop too soon it might plug. I just use water for priming.

IMO, regardless of the size of stick I was running,I'd washout and start again let the contractor and the supplier deal with the rest.. for the sake of a slick pack, and a few gallons of water, and 5 mins labor, washing out seems less of a pain in the ass than unplugging the boom does... but that's me

Everyone had the right answer. They would all have been viable solutions to the problem.

My guess is that OneHit was just trying out something new and different.
