Well, I bought my first boom.   It's a 1999 28z.12. Has 18000 hrs/130,000 mi

4000 on the pump. Was a Putz trade in. Pipe and wear parts estimated at 70%

Anyway, looked like hell, but functions like new according to Putz.

I have put four hundred yards through it and had compliments how smooth it was. Just wondering what you guys would say it was worth????

California trucks now require particulate filters at a cost of about 15 thousand dollars but I dont think a 1999 truck quailifys so the cost to repower it about 40 thousand dollars so the value isint as much here as it might be where you are, if it was on a legal truck it might be worth the money you are thinking but the way it is here in california the value just is not there. Maybe Pump1 can fill us in on what he knows about that year truck and if its possible to get a particulate filter that will work on that truck

Doesn't really matter what you paid now. You bought it. You have it looking great and you say it pumps great and its a Putzmeister 28Z and they are great little money makers.

Best of Luck. I think you made a great purchase.

Its easy for you to say he got a great pump but without knowing the laws in california its going to be hard for you to judge, as far as i know a modle year 1999 truck will need a complete engine retrofit including a particulate muffler and I think that is at least 40 thousand dollars or about 125 thousand dollars to retruck the pump with a new truck. Either way it is very important to know the laws that pertain to your pump in California, it wont be long before the particulate muffler is a 50 state deal so other owners across the USA should takw notice and know that we all have to be aware of every aspect of keeping out fleets legal

This engine is 100% able to be retrofitted. Sure, cost is 12-15k. However, as of now it is legal under the low mileage construction truck exemption. Stays under 20k miles and unlimited pto hours. Must have a dpf by 2017.  And by then, hopefully I made a name for myself and can buy a newer one.  CARB recently changed some rules back in April.

As a unit he got a good one. For the State it goes to if it is Cali. ??? Well if not that unit it would be another unit. That 28z with those hours and that truck with the miles is a good unit and will service him well.

Thats great there are still a lot of guys here in Ca that are unaware of the new CARB regulations but it sounds like you have it covered I have owned my share of putz pumps ans Im sure you will do well with it

Sorry I didn't see where it said he was from  California. I see most guys around here paying $7000-$10000 to have emissions removed from their trucks.  I still don't understand how it's better for the environment to burn way more fuel and always be in the shop . Than burning less fuel with fewer problems with a little bit of  pollution . They must figure that the factories making all the DPF filters don pollute. And all the extra fuel burnt has no impact either.

concrete7111 I agree with you but all we can do is keep up with the regulations
