Bit of a gamble but I guess you have to actually be there to make a claim on that one. Sometimes pictures can be decieving, Its amazing where you can put a z fold boom these days. 10 year ago you wouldnt have even given it a second thought. Jobs are geting tighter and tighter.

But I still think that safety should be top priority in any case.

looks to me like you are a safe distance by the pictures, but you are the op and make the call. at least the weather looks nice if nothing else! LOL

if the 17 ft distance is kept folding and unfolding and while the job is poured i dont see a problem. I had a similar job once and the contractor called the utilities company (BC Hydro)out and he sat there for the pour and spotted me and there was no charge to the us or the contactor.

My opinion is that still has to be the coolest boom out there!

with these new booms things are getting a little sticky, can the job be done safely most cases yet , the operator decides that looked like he was in pretty good shape but most accidents happen when someone has a brain fart, so hopefully he made it through the day, and its not the job cant be done safely in a perfect world but this world is far from perfect and as humans so are we, so you are a gambling with fate a gamble I dont want to take.

I don't like the looks of it,way too many wires and such.Judging just by the pictures,in the last shot I see a container/dumpster at the beginning of the pour, set a medium size pump next to that blue thing, boom parallel to the building and hook some pipe, hose,I notice it is 3 inch, pour it out.See those guys holding that wall up,the few hoses will help keep them warm.I am way too old for all those tangly things up in the air.

I say "Pump On" ShortStik. Here in Seattle we see those jobs all the time. You've got the perfect pump for it. I can clearly see that you're plenty far from any transmission lines (Hydros), I would have set up there. Fine job! Did the foggy damp air add to your scepticsm at all?

it was one of those weird days.  there is no illusion in the pics.  it was close.  a few extra smokes and coffe went missing in action.  was able to stay away from the hydro lines but the pump out into the mixer didn't feel so good.  after movin and waiting with hot mud and alot of laughs with the crew, drivin to the shop to hammer out the hoppper with a smile.

bisley57,  that it what i thought.  bring in a 50m+line.  where the dumpster sits is a McD parking lot, no chance of seting up there, even had a car drive onto the slap.  if i was to setup at the end, i was a 100ft sort with my boom+100ft of hose.

hey rick.  "Do you have your safty glasses on?  Make sure everybody has their safty glasses."  LOL  Did you have to dig yourself out?

Thx TooTall.  see these jobs to often.  as long as i can stay away from the hydro lines, and feel confortble, she's a go.  when i got to the site, both the foreman and i were alittle skepticle.  got the same old "LODI" story from the super but this time he had the ops name, almost saw the sun LOL

There is nothing wrong with this setup at all.  you can boom over or under telephone wires, they are insulated with a strong coating.  Just don't touch them, to avoid damage to the wires or your pump.  The communications companies would likely levy a huge fine against your company if you knocked out phone service.

As for the power lines, you were far enough away.  We all know the clearance rules so pay attention.  A lot of power line contacts happen at the end of a job when an operator  has let his guard down.  He was thinking about the lines the whole pour, he is relieved that the pour is over, then he swings over to pump into the mixer and connects.
