If you buy a new pump what are the possible trucks you can mount it on

Most of the time in the U.S. they mount them on a MACK MR688S. You cant beat a MACK.

Uhm, thats a vague question...as far as I know, we can mount a pump on nearly every Truck (manufacturer/brand) the customer wants. For example i ve put a 36x on an ISUZU, which was by far the most fameless brand in europe :-)

I believe Mack is used most due to the flat cab to make the most of the boom? Folks have said Freight liner and Peterbuilt just can not handle the weight over time and ware quicker than the pump?

Can't beat a Mack! Just carry a spare fan belt.

My guess, its like everywhere where money is involved. Get the best out of your money, that means in US Mack is the best deal, in Europe its Mercedes. The dimensions of the caps vary a bit for sure, but if that would be the only reason for a brand, we wouldnt mount them on other brands. I believe its all about the pricing and what the customer is willing to pay. In Europe I would say we mount 60% Mercedes; 30% MAN; 5%Scania/Volvo; 5% some other brands... I ve only seen one Mack in my entire time at Schwing, and that one was supposed to be shipped to US.

If you want to have the most ugly pump in the world.. (like realy ugly.  Designed to be as ugly as possible) Take an american one like a MACK or something.

You want a good looking pump with cup holders and other futuristic features ;-) take a european one like mercedes, scania, volvo or my favourite: MAN. Nothing beats a MAN. After 15 years everything feels, looks and works like it did when it was new.!!!!

I used to operate a 2006 39 meter with the Freightliner cab. That was very comfortable. Sure beats a Mack or the Tor jetliner

How about the American Lafrance Condor? Or the Autocar. (formerly White/Volvo) Peterbilt still makes their cabover chassis. Freightliner, I'm not so sure of. The Volkswagen trucks that Concord mounts their pumps on in Brazil is definitely a head-turner.

We have an 07 just like this one http://www.allianceconcretepumps.com/new-pumps/JXZ-28. Nice to drive with the 10 speed auto-shift. Lacks a bit of power when you get on some big hills or soft sites. The most important thing that makes it better than a Mack is that the A/C works & you can actually hear the radio!

go a merc or volvo those macks are buckets who ever designed should be punched in the face

CaSsE 11-03-2010

That you can not compare the cap interior between Mack and nearly every other brand is another fact indeed :D but the chassis/engine are pretty solid as far as i know.

Im located in Western Australia, and ive noticed the preference for mack and mercs outside it, a few trucks ive worked on include 21m isuzu, mitsubishi 32 and 26, scania 40, iveco 40, daf 53, a much wider range of truck due to the lack of manufacturers i guess...

I think it also has to do whit resell value. But if I look at all the pumps sold at actions the last year the most have stayed in the U.S. and if I look at the pumps that have left our yard they been send al over the world.

Haha. I expected a lot of you to give me the full load for my remark about the ugly MACK's. But not a word.

Does anyone know why they make them so ugly? Don't they have any pride in their work/product?

Many 11-03-2010

but they are ugly.

wasnt the mack first intended as a garbage truck chassis?

SUPERDOFFER 11-03-2010

If I had a Mack under my pump I stop pumping.

pumpjockey 11-03-2010

Mack should simply take the Volvo cab and adapt it to the MR chassis. And yes, it was originally intended as a purely utilitarian, purpose-built garbage chassis. The MR designation actually stood for: Mack Refuse.

The only thing you have to do to make it a link is to copy it in to the message box and press ENTER. When you press enter it turn blue and becomes a link..

Even for a garbage truck I don't get it. Which idiot has got this design in his hands and said: Ok looks fine. Lets take it in production. The guy drawing this must have had a bet with someone that he could get away with any thing he designed.

Compare this to the same 52 schwing with a mackbox on the front.

(I do still love the MAN much better though. It drives better. It's stronger. Better quality. More practical.. But this one just looks SO fckn great!!!!)

Nice that You remember me Dipstick I have driven that 52 to the inner city of Amsterdam last year I don’t think that is possible whit a Mack; look at streetview . You can axially see the building sitehttp://maps.google.nl/maps?q=vierwindenstraat%20amsterdam&rls=com.microsoft:nl:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7SUNA&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=nl&tab=wl

I remember they used to send me any where with that thing. Specialy loved those Rotterdam skyscraper jobs. It was like driving straight in to hell !! Could only just reach the deck and then 125m system. 1 mixer every 1,5 hours. No elevator. Be there at 5:30. Leave the yard at 3:30. Leave home at 2:30 And then I just came back from a job in Amsterdam around midnight.

That machine is just like a pretty young nimfomane. You realy want to have it but in the mean while it will kill you ;-)

A MACK is built to work. Not for comfort. Think about it.... How much time do you really spend in the cab? Those pictures that are posted are the UGLIEST pumps i have ever seen.

Dipstick 11-04-2010
reply profile send pm notify

I can only see 1 pic of a pump and that's a great one. And why get an uncomfortable cab because you don't spent so much time in it??? 1,5 till 2,5 hours a day is enough for me to like some comfort.

Whats wrong with a little comfort in the cab. I like all trucks. but it seems that Mack has stayed in the 1970´s.We want Bigger better cabs with many possibilitys like refrigirator, microwave oven, coffeemaker and cup holders. Its our second home, why expect less.

well i wonder why when i see the pumps from other countries they look ugly to me ?maybe they should mount them on a real truck.peterbuilt,mack,freightliner.

And our trucks don't look ugly, we're just not stuck in the 70s...

I'm more inclinded to believe the mb and volvo are a class act. They combine looks, comfort and reliability in one package.I'm sorry, but mack has resisted change for so long, typical bs.Remember the Pinto and Edsel? Yuk

And if you want to buy real American. Take a look at the Paccar company they must be able to put some nice Daf cab on there peterbilt. Their engines they already using.

Dipstick 11-08-2010

All people I know that think MB is stronger have never (or rarely) driven MAN. While they that think MAN is stronger have driven both regularly. MB starts to fall apart after 5 years. (doors, heating switches, seats, rust) while a 15 year old MAN has none of these problems.

But maybe we have always been unlucky and always had 'monday morning' MB's

Pump N00b 11-08-2010
reply profile send pm notify

I've driven both MB and MAN, and MAN may have some advantages over MB.
But overall the MB is just better, practicality, functionality and other stuff is just better, easier to use, more intuitive... put simply, just more german!
Everything is modul based, so it's easy to work on and change out.
Can't wait till next year when the new Actros comes with a proper engine at last, a straight 6, wich MB has always been good at building.
