the bones are the biggest down there next to conco , I believe. Bone moved into Nor-cal. Sacramento to be exact I have been working with local 3's organizers and it looks promising they prob. will be going union soon, or they wont survive around these parts of the bay!

NOW JOINING THE UNION WOULD BE THE STUPIDIEST THING BRUNDAGE BONE WOULD EVER DO.  WHAT PART OF ORGANIZED CRIME DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND MR OP 3.  I AM A FORMER UNION BROTHER FROM S FLORIDA.  THEY STOLE OUR PENSION (TWICE)  THE UNION PUT EVERY UNION PUMP COMPANY IN SOUTH FLORIDA OUT OF BUSINESS, AND THEN STOLE THE PENSION.  ANYTIME YOU WANT TO REALLY LEARN THE TRUTH ABOUT THE UNION LET ME KNOW.  YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW UP IN THE UPPER MIDWEST THEY JUST INFORMED ALL MEMBERS THEY WERE TAKING A PENSION CUT BECUASE THE UNION CAN'T FIND ALL ITS MONEY!  YOU NEED TO WAKE UP AND TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR OWN LIFE!  TELL YOUR COMPANY TO DROP THE UNION PENSION AND START A 401K SO THE MONEY IS YOURS AND NOT THE UNIONS.  YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT HOUSTON?  YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT LA, YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT MS.  HOW MUCH MONEY HAS TO BE STOLEN OR MISPLACED BEFORE YOU GUYS WAKE UP!

Well COAST: In the north things are different!Our union is apperantly better managed than yours! Why do you not think that's a possibility!? I've been a member since 1974,with 20+ GOOD years,and will be able to retire in 3 1/2 WITH $4000 a month!Ive not paid a car payment(out of pocket) for 15yr's and have a better Health plan ! No matter what you do, it's a crap shoot! This has paid out for me!!

Mr Mudslinger - I am glad you THINK you have a great retirement.  If you are man enough I can give a whole list of questions to ask your union, and you will find out in short order that you are not even dirt under their fingernails in their opinion.  Yep the guys in Ft Lauderdale thought they were going to retire with $4000 plus a month.  Now they are getting about $1100.00  and NO medical.  They are not the only one.  Have you ever gone to the Dept of Labor and looked up all the reports the union has to give the Government.  Look how much you are pay those "Leaders" of the union.  If they were an honest group then their pay would be the average all all the members.  NOT TWICE OR THREE TIMES WHAT THE HIGHEST PAID HARD WORKING OPERATOR GETS OVER A YEARS TIME.  Many of the union reps are relatives or buddies and have never worked hard in their lives,.  Look at the current head of the Operating Engineers - Check out his back ground - he is proud to say his is a third generaltion Operating Engineer but he joined the union realtively recently and was rewarded with a high paying job.  Hmmmmmm Why did they not appoint YOU!  If I sound bitter it is because the entire system is broke.  Most members when you break down their lifestyle and beliefs would never vote for the Hilary Beast.  But they will when the Union orders it,.  WHY! For many years the biggest NON UNION Contractor int he world was Brown and Root Owned by Lady Bird Johnson!  The Clinton Library was build with NON UNION labor!  WHY -- lol follow the money.  That is where you will find your retirement.  The Union Does nothing unless it puts money in the pocket of those that run it.  PERIOD

I WOULD NOT BLAME YOU FOR BEING UPSET. BUT, PLEASE ....DONT TRASH TALK LOCAL 3 IF YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT OUR AREA AND HOW THINGS ARE OUT WEST. WE HAVE A GREAT CONTRACT  AND YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO BE UNION TO BE ON ALMOST ANY COMMERCIAL JOB.  HOW MANY YEARS OF SERVICE DID YOU SERVE ,AND WITH WHAT LOCAL? DID YOU EVER CONTACT THE INTERNATIONAL OFFICE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? UNFORTUNATLY , YOU PROBABLY COULD NOT INFORM ME OF UNION ISSUES, AS I WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENT OUTLOOK ,AS I AM A 3RD GENERATION MEMBER WITH 11 YEARS IN ACTUALLY IT WILL BE 12 NEXT MONTH. MY GRANDFATHER PUT IN 30, MY FATHER 37 1/2. AND I AM VERY ACTIVELY INVOLVED WITH LOCAL 3. THINGS ARE ALOT DIFFERENT IN THE BAY AREA, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN OUT TO THIS WAY ? DIESEL IS AT 3.29PER GALLON , 50 YEAR OLD RUN DOWN HOMES SELL IN SOME ARES FOR CLOSE TO A MILLION. ITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FUTURE VENTURES.

I retired out of Local 3 with only 7 years in, I make over 1,100 a month just from them, not to mention I retired out of Local 12 (So. Cal) and 428 out of AZ.

Local 3 in my opinion is still the strongest local around.
