This post is directed towards some line pumpers. Why do you use all hose for your setups? What I like to do is use pipe and hose, yes even for 2 or 2.5 inch line setups, my reasoning is that pipe is less expensive, lighter than long hoses, easier to clean, as well as easier on the pump. I see many pumps that use only hose and I ask why? |

The only reason I could think of is ease of use. atleast here where I am that is the case |

I often wonder that myself. Much easier to clean out a pipe. Certian situations call for all hose, but a majority of the jobs can use quite a bit of pipe. |

Hoses are 25 feet pipe is 10. Less clamps. Also they roll up. I use steel on my boom. Maybe if I had some nice 3" pipe I'd use it but i've never tried it. |

I'd rather walk 2.5 times for that 25' with a pipe on my shoulder than struggle with a heavy rolled up hose rubbing against my leg. I'm never buying 25' hoses again, just 10' pipe and 12' hoses. I'd rather walk and clamp more, plus 12' hoses you can just rinse out easily without having to blow a ball through them. Just looking for others opinions as we all do it differently. |

i dont got line pumps but everybody that i know that runs a line pump uses 3 inch hoses of 25 feet long. when i have to use my pumps as line pumps i always use 25 feet long hoses except for the tip hose. i feel i is much better and faster . thats just me. |

hey typesdubs has the clue, shorter works best. i have goodyear hose and its heavy. have you ever had to dump out a 25 footer well it a little out of one end and some out of the other then try to shake the rest out. now rince it when you cannot control the other end. when i bought more hose i took a 50 into 3 and got 17 footers, now its now problem. i also cut down my 25s to horse shoe stack on the flat bed. i had heavy presses end that where replace with barrel internals, they have a small outside diameter. i can grab a clamp and with the other hand grab a hose and put it over my shoulder and drag it off the truck then walk over to the tip and hook it up. have you heard of egernomics well no pain from the weight or dumping of mud |

i ran line for about 5 yrs, when its the busy season 3,4,5 jobs in a day its faster to roll and toss onto the truck and your outa there, off to the next one, as far as shaking hose never ,ever ,ever, 2 sheets of newspaper and a washout bell, usually u know when ur gonna have to,between loads and so forth,i my self like 50' hose on 2", and yes they do wheigh a ton but its all in the knees, lol |
