Recently we purchased an aftermarket wireless remote box for my 1990 schwing, and installed it. to be honest with you i don't like it very much! im not sure which brand it is (it is yellow and very small.) but i was wondering if anyone knew how much it would be for the Omnex (if thats the one newer schings come with.) i would like one of those if it isnt too much. how much do they run?? and if i get it would i be able to hook it up where i could adjust my volume and rpms, which i was not able to do with my hard box or my new one

A new Omnex transmitter and receiver from Schwing for a 4 section B&W boom (the remote box and controller) with the harness will run you about 8 grand.  This would be a spread spectrum unit (no interferance problems) like the new pumps come with.  If the unit you are currently running doesn't have an electric stroke limiter, which it probably doesn't, then you will not be able to control the output from the remote.  This could be added with the addition of a soleniod, shuttle valve, a control, some plumbing and running a few wires but it would cost around 5 grand and take alot of time unless you really knew what you were doing.  The throttle control should work.  Does it function from the rear panel?   If so then the problem is in the cord.  Do the relays for throttle up or down function?  If they do check from the controller to the actuator.  If not check for a ground problem.  Omnex also sells a single frequency transmitter and controller that is about half the cost of the spread spectrum unit.  You have to make the harness yourself but it comes with the ends and a wiring diagram.  You can contact Omnex directly or you can purchase the unit thru Brundage-Bone.  Contact Jeff Gill in Seattle at 253-859-3333 ext. 252
