OK, i now have seen two photos in two day of two different concrete boom pumps having identity issues beliving themselves to be knuckle pickers. this could become contagous if not brought to the attention all operators. just so theres no confusion on all booms there is a sticker, in every safty/OEM manual there is a picture. a black boom pump lifting a rectangle box with a GIANT X over top. this picture applies to booms of all colors and loads of any shape. the strap secured to the last section is to choke a reduser or hose. just cause you can dosn't mean you should. keepin em tire side down

You are completely right, dont use your boom as a crane. |

I am not a boom man but the picture of the box, is that not a known weight that is being lifted to test or certify the booms capacity? All I know is I have heard that nothing is to be lifted with the boom not even that trowel machine. |

good call Shortstick, I was gonna respond to that picture where a boom was being used to crane rafters in place but I figured someone would beat me to it.I have done many boom sections due to operators using there boom as a crane.Alot of operators and owners do not realize the damage to there booms that result in overloading them and that a tip section of most booms is only 2.5mm thick near the end.they are designed for one function only and that is to hold concrete and the weight of one tip hose ,anything else can and will result in boom failure. |
