It's called a Front Loader and they can go alot more places than your standard mixer.Plus the driver has full control of the chute. Great for footers, walls. But they cost more to run.

There are plants up here (Chicago) that's all they have. They are nice. You don't even touch the truck

this mixer was so beat up and the driver said he couldn't see around the shout he kept backen up an pullen forward, IDK maybe the guy was an idiot lol, but this type of mixer was so foreign to me I couldn't help but laugh :)

Those front end discharge mixers are actually a lot better when they are taken care of. You dont need a guy to back him up to the pump, because its all in front of him so he just drives right up to the hopper. I prefer a front end discharge every day over a rear discharge myself. in my area, we have no front end discharge but you drive for an hour and thats all there is.

We have fronts here in nc.  Some look like that and some look show room quality; depends on the driver

I've seen the front end discharge mixers once in Wisconsin, but it was shaped very different an I could see them being more of a efficient design, but I'd never seen one like this. he sais they brought down from up north lmao although how it made the trip beats me! nevertheless, this hunk-o-junk made my day with all kinds of mean spirited giggle....bbbbaaahhahaaa ;)

i think this better for new drivers they dont have to destroy the hopper will they are coming back also at batching plant while loading concrete it will be easier

Well hello there Many, where've you been hiden? lol an yes it splattered everywhere, but I felt bad after all the hell I give the poor guy so I forwent the usual hopper pop to the face ( saved for poorly behaved drivers) and gave him a hose an rag unstead!

if u look close the truck is missing a rubber boot  that will keep it from spitting concrete all over.

Frogburner 01-31-2013

That thing looks pretty good compared to some of the trucks around our area. When you get close to the bootheel in Missouri, get ready to really laugh, you won't laugh though when you try to pump some of it cause it has to be the rockiest mix around. Thats why we call it "Country Concrete" two strokes forward and one stroke back.

I've been driving a mixer myself a few days the other week and know what I found out? Its even easier than I though! If you can't do that you realy have a serious problem.

Now I irritated myself even more when I get a retarded helpless driver behind my pump.. Yell

They have been around for a while, and I guess if you have not seen one, you either are not that old or don't get out of your area very much.

Hi Angie

Those front loaders have some real benefits,Better visability, automatic trans, all wheel drive, hydraulic chutes. Now that I think about I don't remember ever seeing one on it's side.In most cases mixers are like pumps in a fleet, there's always the older one that gets used for traning, spare, the operators don't know or care, bad management.I remember back in the 80's flanagan tried 3 front loaders (Denver) and mpm had a tractor trailer that crabbed over cab like front loader.I seem to remember seeing it in a field aroud Bonner Springs,Ks,like a planter. As for messes, that's why I have heart problems (grin).
