What is the “in style†for paint jobs, on a concrete pump? I see a lot of tribal flames, striping, solid colors, Etc. Are the tribal flames out of style or getting old? What is your personal or even what is the industries opinion? |

The abstract graphic seems to be "cool" at the moment. Geometric chaos is my best description. I am an old guy and always liked flames, but thought that they were unlucky on a pump. ;~) |

I did a flame job for a friend of mine once, A year or so later it ended up in a power line... so no, I am very serious. But it is probably just me. |

I've seen the tear away effects they do look cool, when done right. No other suggestions or ideas out there? |

BOB: that sounds like a bad deal with the flame job, I was thinking about doing water running down the out riggers, but now I think twice about doing it.... it might end up in the ocean or lake. :) |

Why not come up with something of ur own,something really cool and start a new trend.In the end it dosen't matter what it looks like only that it will pump concrete.There is alot of young guys out there that have some really nice stuff. |

Before the computers and plotters were turning out the graphics, a painter did all the art work. It would be very hard to duplicate the decal art at a cost that would not frighten people. Air brush guys are artists, but they are expensive as hell. The other problem is that pumps are on construction sites and subject to abuse. If part of a decal gets trashed you can get the computer to duplicate it. It is much more difficult to fly the painter to the pump and do the professional touch up work. Like everything else in life, the software is taking the place of another crafts professional people. |

Personally, I always thought Army green camo would look kinda cool. Glossy camo...and black anodized aluminium wheels...tuff

Wolf Thats kind of why I am asking whats out there, so I can start off something new, but I haven't been out there long enough to know whats been around. I have been doing a lot of research and looking around and if this paint job that I have in the works comes through, it is going to be BITCH'N.....if it comes through. other wise I will be painting what ever fleet colors comes my way. |

Hi Tim I guess I'm stuck on stuipid.I firmly believe in the kiss principle. Every time I see 3's pump I just melt,black being the hardest color to maintain.Once ones colors are established a clean unit says much about the company they represent,much less personal pride. The main body of unit should be clean and easy to maintain,the boom usually says the company.I really wished I had more insight but I don't.I did learn one thing in the army,it could be a total turd and clean it was a promotion. Not much help but at least a thought. My Best |

Hey paint miester, The VIKING is talk'n about a row of oars painted on the sides. On we sweep with thrashing oar...The hammer of the Gods! (lol) NO PURPLE. We're not Minnasota fans, Just Vikings! |

TT Vasa is the real viking... deal with it ;~) PM What do you use to mask hydraulic hoses? |
||
Paint Master | 09-17-2008 | reply profile send pm notify |
masking paper and tape, we tape the ends off real tight so paint doesn't get through. Many: I agree on the black, not only is it a pain in the butt to keep clean it is also a pain in the butt to paint. Every little thing shows up on black. TooTall: made me laugh there, thought you were serious at first. |

Simple colors win in my opinion. One scratch on a design ruins the design on the other hand a scratch on a solid sideboard can be covered up. and for covering hydraulic lines aluminum foil is the answer faster and cheaper. |
