I attended a meeting of the American Society of Safety Engineers last week and I thought that some of you might be interested in the topic. It was “ZERO ACCIDENTS” The idea is that if you feel that ‘some’ accidents are bound to happen, they will. If, on the other hand, think about the fact that you did not have an accident today… so what makes tomorrow any different? The zero accidents companies are out there, they do business every day; accident free. One of the keys is to have the ownership of the company ‘buy into’ the idea. If you don’t have that then you can not remain accident free. The troops also must be on board. Most companies have some type of accident investigation program. The key here is to investigate the CLOSE CALLS and NEAR MISSES. If you keep your eye on the prize it is possible. The real key is: BEFORE you do a job,
Perhaps it will make you think just a little bit…. And NOT HURT ANYONE TODAY. ;~) |

This is a logical concept. I like the job site evaluation. I beleave most experienced operators have this mentality. I remember when I was new. I over looked a lot possible unsafe placements. Do to the fact I was new to construction and did not recognize the dangers. Thanks Bob! |

If I can figure out a way to post the topic in its entirety I will do so. |

Well we seem to be safe on the customer end no blows or doh doh's with concrete blown over the high rise work, but slips and falls are starting to kill us. What is that 3point rules and no rushing around and so on but steps and rushing around have three guys off for up to 6 months. We are constantly reminding of the hazzards. |
