The concrete pumping industry lost one of its earliest pioneers with the passing of Bob Garst, owner of Garceveur Corp., Louisville, KY on August 19. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary, and his two sons Edwin and Daniel. Bob was a visionary for the pumping method and purchased his first pump in 1978. He was also a forward thinking man in many areas due to his aptitude for applying equipment for productivity and an education from Georgia Tech. According to an employee of 34 years, Steve Meyer, “Mr. Garst always wanted to take the first step to achieve state-of-the-art concrete placing and finishing.” In that regard he continued to expand his pumping fleet with the latest equipment and complemented his pumps with laser screeds. The firm operated in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. He has been characterized as,” A very giving man,” by his employees and a man with excellent business sense. His hard work and dedication to his community were well known.
