Schwing Educates Customers On 2007 Epa Regulations 2006
In order to properly address the 2007 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and the introduction of S15 Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD), Schwing America, Inc. organized an informative class to educate customers on the regulations’ impact on the industry as a whole.
With the introduction of ULSD fuel on October 15, 2006, all on-highway heavy-duty diesel vehicles manufactured in model year 2007 and later will run on S15 ULSD fuel only. These truck engines will feature high-efficiency catalytic exhaust emission control devices or comparable technology to control particulate matter (PM) or soot from diesel exhaust. Retailers are permitted to sell existing 500 PPM diesel fuel until 2010. However, fleet owners wishing to utilize the old fuel must segregate their fuel stocks and take steps to prevent the entry of 500 PPM diesel fuel into vehicles equipped with post-2006 engines. To help explain in more detail this transition, Schwing America called on representatives from loyal vendor and reputable truck manufacturer Mack Trucks.
Mack representatives conducted the session, introducing Schwing owners to engine filtration systems, new maintenance procedures and the potential economic issues associated with fleet ownership and management.
The presentation was held at Schwing’s White Bear, MN headquarters. To accommodate 150 Schwing customers and dealers the concrete equipment manufacturer rented out the White Bear Township Movie Theater near their headquarters for the May 5th presentation.
“We see these informational meetings as a service to our customers and the entire industry,” said Schwing Vice President of Sales and Marketing Brian Hazelton. “This is one of the most daunting challenges our industry has had to confront. It will require cooperation from manufacturers, dealers and fleet managers - we want to arm everyone with all of the facts necessary to see this through.”
Customers also took advantage of the visit to the Schwing plant to enjoy tours of the facility, including the new paint booth added to increase production.
