SCHWING STREAMLINES PARTS DEPARTMENT 2005

Schwing America, Inc., White Bear, MN, recently reformatted their parts department to further maximize efficiency. In addition to hiring four new parts representatives, the restructuring involved the creation of dedicated work stations and the addition of a new position in inventory control. Tom McCauly, long-time parts and support employee at Schwing’s White Bear headquarters, forecasts inventory needs and works with the purchasing department to expedite the ordering process. This will result in even higher delivery rates.

Formerly operating from a conventional parts counter, Schwing’s parts staff now operates with a new computer system and individual workstations to better serve customers. The privacy allotted by cubicles gives customer service reps the opportunity to concentrate on each individual customer’s needs. The company has also installed new software to streamline the ordering process and to better supply the expanding population of concrete pumps.

To streamline the parts return policy and assure customer satisfaction, Schwing has assigned each part a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number. This will speed the processing of customer credits, cut paperwork in half, and quickly restock returned parts for accessibility to other customers.
